Barry Cat - Real name Lomas but Barry just seemed to suit him
Sadly we lost Barry to cancer on 23 February 2006 just short of 11 weeks after we
lost Jules.
Barry would have been coming up 15 years old. We don’t know his exact birthday as
he was a stray but his official birthday was 1 June.
He was a great character who we loved very much - he joins Sumo, Mortisha,, Sly and
Bennetton ( my cats that I lost in the early 90’s ) , Monty and Jules.
Bennetton - he was not really my cat but his owner left him with me when we shared
a flat after I left University. Sadly he developed a rally awful disease very similar
to mad cow disease in appearance and despite our best efforts we could not save him.
Sumo was Tavish’s best friend and I had them both about the same time. Sadly Sumo
had a very short life. He contracted enteritis - he was an absolute darling cat who
I loved to bits.
Mortisha and Sly were Rupert's litter brother and sister. One day my flat mate Caroline
came home with a litter of feral kittens that someone had found and picked up -
mistake 1 - the mother would have gone back to them. There were 5 kittens - and not
even weaned - the first two sadly passed away within the first day or so - leaving
Rupert, Sly and Mortisha. I lost Mortisha and Sly with a couple of weeks of each
other at the age of about 18 months to feline leukaemia - Thankfully Rupert, Barry
and Tavish survived this latest ordeal and have lived a great many years.
They are all gone but never ever forgotten
